Better late than never, right?

Greetings friends and followers!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Tamara Ugolini — journalist and senior editor at Rebel News.

Over the last three years, my investigative journalism has focused heavily on debunking and untangling the COVID-19 response, wherein I tend to highlight the short-fallings of the biopharmaceutical model used as a “tool” to “get us out of the pandemic,” through a skeptical lens.

A big part of this is also condemning the behavioural science used to “nudge” the population into compliance with state-sanctioned public health orders.

I was a real-life rebel in 2020, after being arrested and held in jail for walking my local beach shoreline in defiance of arbitrary and (what I still consider to be an) unlawful restriction to public land. I had researched the town’s lot lines and shoreline easement case law before deciding to enter Crown Land to walk the shore of Cobourg’s beautiful beach. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be arrested, jailed, and charged criminally…

Mostly because it was a classic display of civil disobedience.

No one was hurt. I was not aggressive or violent.

But also, no one was listening. I had been emailing, calling, delegating and petitioning all levels of government for months about how the suppressive COVID public health edicts were harming the general public (myself and my family included). And it was all falling on deaf ears.

The act of civil disobedience came as I felt that I had nothing left to lose. My husband and I had just lost our life’s savings and newly developed business due to the Ontario government’s illogical lockdown(s), with four children at home to feed and clothe.

I thought that the arrest would destroy my reputation and future job prospects but ended up landing me a job with Canada’s largest independent media outlet. The rest is history!

The intent behind starting a Substack (late to the party, I know!) is to offer a space to elaborate and expand on my Rebel reports while facilitating conversations in the comments section.

And maybe get into some more personal musings in between.
